Youtube 12.40 Update: New Pinch To Zoom Feature For Smartphones

Google introduced new pinch to zoom feature on Youtube 12.40 app for smartphones.
Smartphones are getting better and better every single day and so do the screens. Nowadays smartphone manufacturers are trying to pack more screen in phones while keeping them compact so they can easily fit in hands.

The easiest way to do that to increase the size of the screen vertically. As we know the new era of smartphone screens have emerged and manufacturers are changing the aspect ratio from 16:9 to somewhat 18:9, which is quite awesome if you ask me bcoz with this, the user gets more screen to work with, but pros always come with cons.

While user gets a bigger screen and much more resolution while they also get a black border in left and right of the screen when watching a 16:9 video in fullscreen.

As we know some of the users, or can say most of the users don't like to watch a video with a border in corners, so Google introduced pinch and zoom in youtube for our sake.  (Love you google...:p) so users can enjoy a video in full-screen mode without black borders. 

Now user can easily pinch the screen to zoom in and out on youtube videos. While one con of pinch n zoom is that you will lose a part of the video as it will get cropped in the process but they say, you have to sacrifice something to get something.

Media Players Available for Smartphones

Google is not the first to introduce this feature as we know like most of the android video players have the feature like that and some of them have a stretch feature which automatically adjusts the video with the ratio of the screen, e.g MXPlayer. but as we know most of the smartphone users like to watch video on youtube so the need for this feature was more required in youtube own video player app.

So if you haven't updated your Youtube App then you better do it now. While some user might won't want this feature, for example, those who don't have a latest 18:9 display phone. (hehe just kidding)
